Sam works as a junior doctor in Devon. Having fostered a love for the outdoors from a young age by exploring his local crags on the Welsh border, he now has a keen interest in expedition and pre-hospital medicine, and tries to spend as much time as possible climbing, surfing and planning the next challenge.
After completing his medical studies at the University of Bristol, Sam spent 2 months working in a Trauma Unit in Cape Town before embarking on his hospital jobs in the UK. He is a Medical Officer with the airborne forces of the British Army (reserves), and relishes the challenge of practicing in arduous environments.
Having instructed on the Faraway Medicine Course in the Alps, he particularly enjoys making expedition medicine more accessible to others.
